How to choose hydroponic nutrients
Choose nutrients for your growing method. Recirculating hydroponics, coco coir and soil each behave differently, so look for formulas designed for your system and water.
- One-part formulas, such as Botanicare Pure Blend Pro, are simple to use, while multi-part programs from brands like Canna, Athena and House & Garden let you fine-tune the mix by growth stage.
- Water-soluble dry fertilizers, such as the JR Croptech and Athena Pro lines, are economical for larger systems; they need to be fully dissolved and mixed properly.
- Coco coir growers need nutrients with calcium and magnesium support, and many coco-specific base nutrients are available.
- Bloom boosters, enzymes and additives are optional extras layered on top of a complete base nutrient.
